Moving on to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5, it is set to be launched in July 2023 with an undisclosed model number. The unfolded dimensions of the Galaxy Z Fold5 measure 154.9 x 129.9 x 6.1 mm, while in its folded state, it measures 154.9 x 67.1 x 13.4 mm and weighs 253 grams. Display-wise, the Galaxy Z Fold5 features a 7.6-inch Foldable Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a resolution of 1812 x 2176 pixels. The display comes with undisclosed protection. Like the Galaxy Z Fold5, the Z Fold5 is powered by the Qualcomm SM8550-AC Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (4 nm) and runs on Android 13. Additionally, it houses an Octa-core (1×3.36 GHz Cortex-X3 & 2×2.8 GHz Cortex-A715 & 2×2.8 GHz Cortex-A710 & 3×2.0 GHz Cortex-A510) CPU.
On the photography front, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 is equipped with a three-camera setup on the back, comprising a 50MP wide-angle lens, a 10MP telephoto lens, and a 12MP ultrawide lens. For selfies, it features a 4MP and 10MP front camera housed within the display notch. The device offers impressive video recording capabilities, allowing for recording in 8K@24fps, 4K@60fps, 1080p@60/240fps (gyro-EIS), and 720p@960fps (gyro-EIS) with HDR10+. In terms of storage, the Galaxy Z Fold4 5G comes in three variants, offering 12GB of RAM and options for 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB of internal storage. It also supports microSDXC cards via a dedicated slot. Similarly to the Galaxy Z Fold5, the Z Fold5 features a 4400mAh battery and supports 25W fast charging. It comes with a dual nano-SIM card slot, providing support for 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G networks. The fingerprint sensor is conveniently side-mounted.
Estimated against the usage profile of an average/typical user, this evaluation was independently conducted by Strategy Analytics between 2021.12.08–12.20 in the USA and UK, using pre-release versions of SM-S901, SM-S906, SM-S908 under default settings on 5G Sub6 networks (not tested under 5G mmWave network). The actual battery life may vary depending on factors such as network environment, features and apps used, frequency of calls and messages, number of times charged, and many other variables.
